A resource is required to:

• Develop new modules
• Test/regression test existing systems
• System changes and enhances functionality for systems used throughout the CMR and tech data systems.
• Monitor overnight process and housekeeping and rectify as necessary
• Respond to faults and errors

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the full software design life cycle. They should have experience in designing, coding, testing and consistently managing applications They should be comfortable coding in a number of languages and have the ability to test code in order to maintain high-quality code. 

Skills required

• asp.net coding in vb.net v4
• Strong SQL, jquery, html and javascript
• SQL and SQL server (2008 on) nut knowledge of later versions
• Strong Analytical skills
• XML web services and API integrations
• JSON web servers and API Integrations
• CSS and knowledge of responsive web design/development
• Ideally, photoshop skills
• Ability and discipline to work independently and from home
• Take ownership of issues/systems

Description of duties

• Develop and test code for various system add on’s and enhancements to existing web-based systems
• Query SQL server databases and perform structural changes/reports
• Liaise with the head of IT on a regular basis on progress and direction
• Develop using a similar approach to those already adopted for future maintainability
• Use of embedded jquery and javascript and interaction with server-side vb.net code. Operations are a mix of server-side code and client-side code – not all server code.
• Adapt designs from designers in photoshop or illustrator into working web code
• Other duties not necessarily related to development (such as reporting or data changes/data imports etc)
• Regular review meetings either in person or via teams/zoom etc on progress
• Monitor issues and errors and apply fixes as necessary.
• Liaise with multiple departments and teams, such as domain management, web application firewall management, security certs etc.
• Various migration tasks away from current hosting platforms and databases to a new environment
• Plan and monitor various other activities such as archiving, password compliance etc
