Description

Dellent is a Portuguese consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, focused mainly on IT and Telecommunication services, and we are hiring an experienced Technical Writing Specialist for a long term contract role in Lisbon

The Technical Writing Specialist develops, prepares, edits, and publishes documentation for the internal knowledge base and end user documents for Telecommunication engineers. This includes procedural documents, online help systems and other materials that document and standardize the customer experience.  As part of content development and preparation, the Technical Writing Specialist works with Product owners, Software Architects, Technical Support Engineers, Software Developers and Quality Assurance Testers to ensure the Customer Documentation is accurate, timely, easy to consume, and follows department standards. 

 

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years documenting highly technical software, desirably in telecommunications or a similar field;
  • Proficiency in using industry standard documentation tools, topic-based authoring, structured content and DITA publishing;
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles and tools (Confluence, JIRA, Git, Content Management Systems);
  • Engineering degree in Electronics, Informatics, physics or related is favorable. Communication degrees are also considered;
  • Impeccable English skills: writing, understanding, speaking;
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics;
  • Excellent communication skills, showing consistency, clarity, and a strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; strong logical reasoning and solution oriented;
  • Ability to proactively identify documentation gaps, and work to address them; 
  • Strong team player with outstanding organization and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in context switching and working on multiple projects in parallel;
  • Energetic and capable of learning new technologies as necessary;
  • Ability to write clearly for multiple audiences. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Create and maintain instruction manuals, quick reference guides, online documentation or help systems for internal-users and customers; 
  • Collaborate with relevant teams and stakeholders to collect and interpret inputs to create cohesive content in step with the software development;
  • Obtain a deep understanding of the products (through testing the documentation against the software itself) to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content;
  • Coordinate the review and approval process for new and modified documentation; 
  • Research and evaluate new documentation tools and improve documentation processes.
