Avlino Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team of AI scientists, Software Engineers, Analysts, and Quantitative developers. 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with the team to design the next generation architectures and solutions, operate in a fast-paced environment where multiple project deliverables are coordinated within specified deadlines, write software/firmware in Java, Scala and Python for Hadoop on Linux, and undertake programming to create datasets for the Data Science team to provide analysis. This is a leadership role that involves close interaction with other team members from different professional backgrounds; as such communication and presentation skills are crucial. Responsibilities:

• Writing software in Java/Scala/Python for Kafka/Hadoop/Spark stack applications;
• Expertise in developing enterprise scale, real-time applications;
• Understand and translate business and product questions into project requirements;
• Establish world-class coding standards and software development processes

Requirements:

• Education: Completed MS in Computer Science;
• MUST: Expert (10+ years) knowledge in one or more of the following languages Java, Scala, R, or Python.
• MUST: Expert (10+ years) in multi-threaded applications; Concurrency, Parallelism, Locking Strategies and Merging Datasets.
• MUST: Expert (10+ years) in Software architecture, Design Patterns, Data Structures and Algorithms. Must understand operational and memory complexity;
• MUST: Expert (10+ years) in Memory Management, Garbage Collection & Performance Tuning;
• MUST: (5+ years) working with Apache Big Data stack; Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Flink, etc...
• MUST: (5+ years) of experience and working knowledge of distributed/cluster computing concepts.
• MUST: Expert (10+ years) experience in Linux environments; strong knowledge of shell scripting and file systems.
• Preferred: Analytics and data science knowledge along with a solid understanding of advanced mathematical concepts would be a strong plus.
• Preferred: Knowledge of multiple programming languages.
• Preferred: Cloud architecture and design
