About IPN

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is a non-profit private organization founded in 1991 and based in Coimbra. IPN promotes innovation and technology transfer, being the main link between the University of Coimbra and the business sector. IPN operates in three complementary areas: Incubation and acceleration of technology-based enterprises; Research and technological development; Highly specialized training. Recently, the IPN Incubator was distinguished by UBI Global as one of the 10 best university business incubators in the world.

The Laboratory for Informatics and Systems (IPNlis) is one of the labs of research and technological development of IPN. It brings together a wide set of competencies and expertise in several areas of Information and Communication Technologies which are applied and used to support initiatives for technology transfer towards industry and public bodies.

 

About the Role

We’re looking for a Business Developer, who wants to join us in growing IPN and IPNlis business and develop customers relationships. We are looking for someone with a very proactive attitude, a good business drive and a strong focus on making things happen. As a business developer, you will be finding and converting leads and marketing strategies into effective sales and business and be responsible for managing business opportunities in a set of clients, establishing with them a long-lasting relationship.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing and managing client portfolio in the IT area;
  • Collecting leads and converting prospects into new clients;
  • Defining commercial activities plan and developing technical proposals and tailored solutions that present high quality software solutions;
  • Establishing commercial relationships to increase customer satisfaction, loyalty and add value for our clients;
  • Holding meetings with prospects and clients (phone contact, email, virtual and face-to-face meetings) to present business areas and services and making follow-up contacts;
  • Receiving requests for proposals and respond to them;
  • Participating in commercial and technological reference events and business fairs;
  • Working closely with the management team to identify potential clients;
  • Creating sales campaigns in digital marketing;
  • Using CRM as a tool for Customer Segmentation, calculating the relative potential of customers and identifying the most attractive ones.

 

What You'll Need

  • Background in the areas of Computer Science or similar;
  • Knowledge in IT solutions is preferrable and experience in business development, sales or pre-sales is valued;
  • At least 3 years of experience in IT and sales;
  • Good knowledge of both written and verbal English and Portuguese languages;
  • Strong management skills;
  • Social skills and results orientation;
  • Taste for selling, negotiating and managing the relationship with the client;
  • Good organizational skills, autonomy, proactivity and dynamism;
  • Availability to travel and a driving license.
