Strypes is looking for new colleagues to join our team as a Senior Embedded Software Engineer. 

We are looking for people who are interested in embedded software development and would like to be challenged to solve complex technical problems in an international environment. Daring to delve into the technical details of the software stack/project if necessary (even if that means that you must deal with the darker corners of the Linux kernel internals or the peculiar behavior of some embedded processor’s memory hierarchies).  

Desire to achieve technical excellence while understanding that “hacks” are sometimes necessary.  

Someone who displays proactivity in identifying and highlighting technical defects, opportunities, and risks, even when doing so is counterculture. And someone who can have a laugh when things do not turn as expected.   

We work within a hybrid model, with offices based in Lisbon and Porto. We are happy to hire candidates from any city in Portugal, who would be available to come in office occasionally.

Your daily responsibilities include: 

• Perform any of the activities of a software development life cycle: analyze, design, develop, test, debug, profile, and maintain embedded software, potentially encompassing applications, device drivers, network stacks, board support packages, real-time operating systems, and bare-metal executives; 

• Produce technical documentation as required; 

• Interface with clients and partners to understand their wants and needs; 

• Support and mentoring software tasks to team members;  

• Travel to our client's site in The Netherlands when needed. 

Essential qualifications, skills and experience: 

• 5+ years embedded software development experience; 

• Academic background in Engineering or similar (Software, Electronics, Physics, Mathematics); 

• Experience of C or C++ or other programming language used in embedded/systems programming context; Preferably with a GNU/Linux background; 

• Experience in the semiconductors (is a plus); 

• Proactive attitude, critical thinker, and problem solver; 

• Motivated individual with the ability to think outside the box; 

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
