Summary

The Senior Backend Engineer will be responsible for leading the implementation of the web applications the company is rolling out in the next year. This person will be reporting directly to the company’s CTO. 

The main goal of this position is to deliver projects on time and within scope to meet client expectations. The keys to success in this position are clarifying projects’ technical requirements and designing the right application architecture to ensure the project has great performance, even at a large scale of traffic. For this reason, it is important that the person not only has a solid engineering background but is also able to lead client meetings, understand priority levels and the business rules behind them. 

This person is likely to be asked to manage a small team of developers. It would be vital to drive collaboration and implement industry best practices within the team, such as code reviews. 

The company is growing and there are a number of high stakes projects for international clients that need to be delivered in the near future. This person would represent a key part of the company’s strategy and could help grow the company to the next level.

Objectives

• Lead the development of web applications in Python / Go. This includes overseeing design, implementation, testing and deployment. Strong Python / Go experience is required.

• Clarify business and technical requirements in order to select the right application architecture.

• Manage a team of software developers. This includes being able to guide technical discussions on the right database technology, recommended deployment options, etc. 

• Communicate effectively with the CTO and the client to establish priorities and plan a roadmap.
