SAP System Administrator @ MSC Portugal

Description

Our company is currently involved in a worldwide SAP roll-out process. The project is challenging, therefore we are searching for highly motivated people and thriving on challenge.

The candidate will be a member of the SAP Competence Center located in Lisbon. He/She will support day-to-day operations ensuring that the business solution performs effectively.

Purpose of Role

Provide SAP technical support as part of the MSC SAP BASIS team ensuring the operation of all SAP systems, working directly with business analysts, development team members and third parties, with responsibility for technical configuration and administration of large SAP installations in support of global SAP rollouts.

Core Responsibilities

He/she has several years of experience in handling SAP BASIS related activities and have worked on at least one implementation projects and two support projects

  • Be part of a high performing team of SAP BASIS specialists to design, install, configure and maintain MSC SAP system landscape, whilst ensuring high availability, optimal performance and overall data security and integrity;
  • Work closely with the others MSC SAP department teams, IT teams and third parties, to ensure an ‘always on’ experience for our internal customers, and a high satisfaction rate for customer service across our business;
  • Monitor, update and maintain the SAP systems (including but not limited to SAP ECC on HANA, Solution Manager, PI, OpenText, etc.), ensuring they are simple, cost effective and operationally efficient, whilst supporting our business’ needs;
  • Manage incidents to conclusion, working with teams across MSC to identify and resolve issues across the platform efficiently;
  • Conduct regular housekeeping and system administration tasks, for optimal system performance and availability, including monitoring and predictive alerts, system copies, data archival tasks, batch job scheduling and maintenance, component specific maintenance, etc;
  • Conduct 1st and 2nd level support on a daily basis for requests (emails, tickets, etc.) related to SAP BASIS working very closely with the third parties when deemed appropriate;
  • Organize and apply the recurring SAP maintenance plans (hot packages, kernel upgrades, EHP update/upgrades, release upgrade, etc.) through all systems using a structured approach;
  • Maintain system documentation for all SAP instances;
  • Support the DBA team with the operations, system replication, monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning and patching/updating of the HANA databases;
  • Support the OS team with the operations and troubleshooting of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications (including SUSE HAE).

Professional Qualifications & Key Competences

  • Demonstrable previous experience in supporting SAP systems (SAP NetWeaver, Solution Manager, PI, OpenText, etc.);
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills;
  • Interest in current and future technology opportunities to improve our operational efficiency;
  • Provide timely, complete and accurate responses to all questions and inquiries in a positive and constructive manner;
  • If needed, be able to provide after-hours support for system maintenance;
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks within projects;
  • Proven ability and commitment to high standards of customer service;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
