About Quantum team at R&D

We are a newly started team located in Lisbon, working in the area of quantum information and cryptography. Considering the recent trend towards privacy solutions offered by the quantum technology, this team is an initiative towards making a mark in this area in Portugal. We aim at applying for more research projects by gathering expertise and experience, as the team grows, with each project.

Job description

This position is for a quantum engineer to work on the theoretical aspects (security, efficiency, etc.) of the ongoing project. Contribution to other projects within the quantum team is also expected. We count on your expertise to be responsible for the specific tasks assigned. You will ensure profitability through staffing, upselling, and renewals. You will also be required to:

• Have background in quantum information and cryptography.
• Have a good understanding of the key concepts associated with quantum communication schemes and their security.
• Understand the progress of the ongoing project, and help make decisions related to technical challenges that may arise at various levels (theory or implementation).
• Draft scientific proposals for research grant calls.
• Possess good presentation skills as part of the dissemination/demonstration activities of our work.

Below you can find some of the characteristics that we value:

• Masters/PhD in Physics/Mathematics/Engineering or similar areas, with direct alignment towards quantum information/technologies;
• Some experience in theoretical research work in quantum communication and information security;
• Ability to convey ideas to people (in particular with non-technical backgrounds);
• Basic programming skills (C, C++, Python);
• Fluent in English.
