The On-Site Network Field Technician is responsible for implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing network infrastructures in various field locations. This position requires both in-depth technical knowledge and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders and environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation & Setup:
- Deploy new networking hardware, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Configure networking equipment to client-specific requirements.
- Assist in the rollout of new service locations or network upgrades.
2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine maintenance on networking equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues on-site.
- Identify and repair hardware failures, replacing faulty components as necessary.
- Maintain and track hardware inventory and stock management including tracking of end of life devices.
- Work with local ISPs for troubleshooting network issues.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
- Document installations, configurations, and network layouts.
- Build and track BOMs (bill of materials) based on CISCO CCW.
- Maintain a record of tasks, incidents, and service requests.
- Provide regular status updates to the network operations center or supervising staff.
4. Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated with the latest in networking technologies, best practices, and certifications.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, or seminars as required.
5. Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols when working in various environments.
- Ensure installations and configurations meet industry standards and company compliance guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field. Work experience can sometimes substitute for educational requirements.
- Relevant networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on networking experience, preferably in a field technician capacity.
- Minimum of 2 years cable and network hardware management experience, preferably in a field technician capacity.
- Knowledge and experience with network equipment acquisition processes.
- Proficiency in using network diagnostic tools and software.

- Strong technical aptitude with a deep understanding of network topologies and protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and handle multiple tasks.
- Physical fitness to handle equipment installations and travel to various on-site locations.
- Good English language skills.
Work Conditions:
- Regular travel to different on-site locations.
- May involve working in tight spaces, lifting heavy equipment, or working in outdoor conditions.
- Availability for emergency troubleshooting or network outages, which may include evenings or weekends.
