What you will be doing:

As a systems developer, you will facilitate a successful and accurate delivery by:

• Picking up general-purpose development tasks across a variety of languages and tool sets
• Maintaining and extending a simple Java/Spring web application with a relational database backend
• Building and maintaining RESTful APIs to core platform features
• Working with devOps engineers to deliver all new features via a fully-scripted test and deployment pipeline within the Amazon Web Services environment.
• Staying up to date with all new technological advancements in this area and looking for opportunities to add value within the platform.
• Working with the scrum master and product owner to ensure all new features are delivered to expectations around time and quality.

What we are looking for:

This role is for an experienced software developer who is not afraid to pick up new languages and technologies and use the best fit for the job at hand.

• Having a desire to continually be exposed to new technologies in a fast-moving big-data and machine learning environment
• Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team where other team members have distinct but complementary skill sets
• Wanting to understand how the platform is actually used by the business users and what we can do to make their time more productive
• Driving best practice development standards into the team, ensuring that team members undertaking simple scripting or data transformation work gain benefit from the experience of a career software developer
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to address issues with team dynamics, excel at coaching team members around agile concepts
• Solid background in bespoke software development, ideally with elements of integration with off the shelf products
• History of delivery in both an agile and waterfall delivery structure and an appreciation of the different approaches required in each.
• Agile & Scrum practice
• Passion for great technology and user experience
• Exceptional organizational skills, analytical thinker, team player
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Eligible to work in Portugal and in the EU.
