Engineering Manager @ Pixelmatters

Description

Description

Pixelmatters is a digital product studio. We're a team of strategists, designers and engineers creating top-quality digital products.

Our mission is to empower businesses to achieve their full potential by creating top-quality digital products, while fostering great relationships along the way. We envision a world where great user experience is the norm, not the exception, inspiring businesses and people to be at their best.

We're looking for you - a creative, open-minded, and agile Engineering Manager - that has the capability of managing different engineers and being engaged with their teams and respective projects, in collaboration with other Engineering Managers. On top of this, you are someone that knows the engineering processes pretty well, understands common engineering challenges, and understands the importance of keeping top-quality software deliverables.

Your role will focus on managing software engineers, empowering them towards personal and business goals while supervising engineering projects to guarantee they are running smoothly and keeping top-notch quality.

Some of your day-to-day tasks will include leading direct reports' reviews; having regular 1:1s with engineers; collaborating with other Engineering Managers; as well as reporting directly to the CTO about the engineer's status, concerns, expectations, achievements, goals, or others, but also about projects' status technical-wise. On the other hand, you will be responsible for auditing, evaluating, and improving engineering processes while writing appropriate documentation about people management and engineering processes.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience as an Engineer Manager or similar, having worked as a Software Engineer or similar
  • Clear, cohesive, and proactive communicator
  • Great understanding of English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
  • Strong supervisory, mentoring, team building, and leadership skills
  • Capability to create empathy and build trust among engineers, teams, and clients
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of engineering processes and common challenges
  • Experience reporting to management and clients about the projects' status from a technical perspective

It would be awesome if you also have...

  • Experience in recruitment processes
  • Experience dealing with people's mobility processes
  • Experience in Agile environments and methodologies
  • Experience documenting, auditing, evaluating, and improving processes

Benefits

  • Quality-driven, inspiring and collaborative work environment
  • Competitive salary and benefits, including health insurance
  • For now, you’ll be working fully remote. Over 2022, we’ve planned to open a new office located at Porto’s downtown.
You’ll then be able to decide where to work from.
