Responsibilities:

  • Managing database engines for several applications minimizing downtimes and configuring and updating them for fast query responses - focus on high-availability and performance;

  • Constant aim for quality, scalability, security and architecture good practices, keeping compliance in check;

  • Ultimately improving the full delivery pipeline to get faster time to market, lower failure rate of new releases, shortened lead time between fixes, and faster mean time to recovery;

  • Be willful to help peers, being part of a collaborative environment for development, testing, and automating tasks;

  • Produce documentation for database policies, disaster recovery plans, procedures and standards and enforce them within the team;

Requirements:

  • Well versed in relational databases like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle;

  • Solid knowledge with T-SQL programming and performance tuning (Execution Plans, Indexes, Query refactoring);

  • Experience with sharding and partitioning, indexing, replication, backup techniques and overall database modelling and design;

  • Interest in large-scale highly available systems;

  • DevOps mindset;

  • Fluent in English.

Bonuses (the following skills are not required but will make your profile stand out):

  • Windows Server support & troubleshooting, including authentication, networking and failover clustering;

  • PowerShell, DSC, Visual Studio, SQL Server management tools, PowerBI Desktop/Cloud, Analysis Services (multidimensional and tabular models) and Reporting Services;

  • Experience with any of the following tools or technologies, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Couchbase/Redis, other RDBMS or NoSQL technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, MongoDB, Elastic);

  • Familiar with SCRUM methodology; 

  • We don’t expect you to be expert in all of these, but would like to hear from you on any you might find relevant from your experience.

Academic & trades qualifications

  • Academic background in IT or equivalent;

  • Proficiency in English;

  • 2 year of experience.
