We are looking for a Data Engineer for a project based in Lisbon.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the architecture & engineering teams to ensure our data platform is designed to be scalable, secure, performant, manageable and cost effective.
• Design and implement a scalable, performant, cost-effective solution for data ingestion and reporting.
• Collaborate with product owners, architecture and engineering teams to implement a reporting strategy suitable for reporting from a multi-tenanted data store via a suitable reporting platform.
• Collaborate with product owners, architecture and engineering teams to implement an analytics platform for a multi-tenanted data store.
• Understand cost models of the infrastructure solutions being designed and ensure that they are appropriate to the solution.
• Collaborate with product owners to identify monetization strategies for the platform data.
• Develop basic business reports upon the selected data reporting platform to ensure that the platform meets the product requirements for report developers to succeed.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to ensure the platform is supported by appropriate monitoring tools to ensure customer success.
• Regular platform reviews, making recommendations for improvements.
• Work with security consultants to identify and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
• Ensure data storage and services are deployed in accordance with company security policies and cloud best practices.

Essential Skills

• Design of big data storage, information architecture and ingestion processes.
• Awareness of cloud-agnostic options as well as cloud-specifics. The XPTO service platform is primarily hosted in Azure, so familiarity with the Azure Big Data suite would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with reporting platforms such as PowerBI, Tableau, Looker suitable for product integration.
• Experience working with with both NoSQL and SQL and data warehousing.
• Technical expertise with data models, data cleansing, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Previous of experience of reporting transformation and data migration.
• Knowledge of appropriate programming languages such as R, Python, MDX, SQL etc.
• Knowledge of GDPR and security best practice.
• Experience as a data engineer in a cloud SaaS platform.

Desired Experience

• Experience working with data scientists and architects to meet business goals.
• Experience running a live data platform, maintaining NFRs and managing costs.
• Knowledge of machine learning methods.
• Knowledge of the food and beverage, casino, retail sectors,

Person Requirements

• Able to communicate both written and verbally, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• Data engineering certifications preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience working with cloud-based, software service platforms.
• Positive attitude and commitment to delivering quality work to time and cost budgets.
• Excellent knowledge of big data technologies and current best practice trends.
