WHO WE ARE

We are a pet tech company founded by a mix of engineers and designers with a passion for developing products that help pet owners around the world keep their buddies safe and healthy.

In 2016, we introduced the Findster Duo Pet Tracker, the first GPS pet tracker free of monthly fees, through a $250k Kickstarter Campaign - the most successful in Portugal. Since then, we've come a long way - Findster Duo is #1 Best Selling Pet Location & Activity Tracker on Amazon and is used daily by thousands of people in over 80 countries.

At the core of Findster is Maze, a proprietary technology platform that allows IoT systems to communicate in real-time, off-grid, in a long-range without being dependent on the cellular infrastructure from Telcos.

Besides being part of the European Space Agency (ESA) incubation program, since 2016 we're also alumni of HAX - the world's #1 Hardware Startup accelerator.

WE WANT SOMEONE

We want an Android developer to be responsible for the development and maintenance of applications aimed at a range of Android devices.

Your primary focus will be development of an Android application for pet tracking and its integration with back-end services.

You will be working alongside other engineers and developers working on different layers of infrastructure and hardware. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of a quality product is essential.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS

• Proficiency with Java and Gradle;
• Experience with offline storage (e.g. Realm, SQLite), threading, and performance tuning;
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and JSON;
• Knowledge of Android SDK versions and compatibility standards;
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications;
• Understanding of Google's design principles and interface guidelines;
• Understanding of Object Oriented Design Principles and Software Patterns;
• Good understanding of algorithms and data structures;
• Familiarity with Agile design concepts.

NICE TO HAVE

• Published an app or previously contributed to an open source project;
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tool Git;
• Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards;
• Familiarity with Kotlin;
• Knowledge of Bluetooth LE;
• Experience with unit testing and/or automated testing frameworks;
• Experience with Continuous Integration development process (Jenkins / Fastlane).
